Imbolc is upon us!
Every year in the Northern Hemisphere, from February 1st through 2nd, the Pagan Sabbat, Imbolc, is the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.
Imbolc means " In the Belly," as in the middle, the belly of the season, of winter.
And the Celtic Tradition celebrates the Goddess Brigid, the goddess of healers, poets, wisdom, protection, abundance, creativity, inspiration, and the coming of Spring.
In Modern Times, she represents the healing of women and has become a symbol for women's and reproductive rights.
Check out the Brigid Alliance if that's something you're passionate about!
Imbolc has been associated with other deities, such as St. Brigid, Aphrodite, Eros, Hestia, and Vesta.
This is one of the "lighter" Sabbats; it's all about honoring that we are still in winter, it's good to take it slow, and it acts as a reminder that warmer, brighter days are ahead as we flow towards Spring.
It's a great time to do some extra cozy nurturing, light some candles, enjoy some hot tea, and do some journaling & reading.
Some more active goals are to wrap up any winter projects, start thinking about and planning your spring & summer projects, and start your spring cleaning. Please keep it simple and take one step at a time.
That's it. Seriously!
My favorite thing about Imbolc is the emphasis on ease and finding what feels good.
Find restorative joy when you can because the work is never truly over, so always take advantage of the lulls with rest & recharging.
If you want to dive deeper or need a little direction, I made a small but nurturing tarot or oracle card spread for you! Use the questions as intuitive journal prompts if you don't have cards.
